Cleo’s mom and dad are busy with work, so she is usually under the care of her grandmother. As a result, Cleo and her grandmother developed a close and dependent relationship.
When Cleo first started attending Great Love Preschool, she often cried because she didn’t want to be separated from her grandmother. Her little hands would always tightly grasp her grandmother’s, and when she felt unhappy at school, she would cry searching for her grandmother or become very moody.
Like many children, Cleo didn’t like vegetables much. Sometimes, when she saw vegetables she disliked in her bowl, she would cry and refuse to eat them, expressing a desire to find her grandmother.
Dealing with Cleo’s resistance, her teacher always accompanied and taught her with patience and love. Knowing her dislike for vegetables, the teacher would cut them into small pieces to make it easier for her to eat. During meal times, teachers would hold eating competitions to see who can finish their food quickly, turning it into a fun game.
As time passed, Cleo grew curious about eating vegetables and often asked her teacher, “Why do children need to eat more green vegetables?” and “Why do cats eat mice?”
All her questions were patiently answered by her teachers. Through sharing the story “Rescue Planet Earth,” the teachers also highlighted the benefits of eating vegetables, encouraging children to consume more of it to protect animals.
Through encouragement, companionship, and teaching, Cleo has gradually learned to eat independently and has begun to enjoy vegetables more.
