When Han Fei first arrived at Great Love Preschool at the age of two, he was overwhelmed by the unfamiliar environment and surrounded by unfamiliar faces. Feeling insecure, he cried loudly, calling for his mother, which ached the hearts of the teachers.
Initially, whenever the teacher asked Han Fei to participate, he would simply refuse, saying “no” to any activity. However, the teacher noticed his strong interest in music. After a few days of acclimating to his surroundings, Han Fei began to willingly join the morning Circle Exercise. He clapped his hands and moved to the music with the teacher, wearing a cute smile on his face.
Despite initially saying “no,” Han Fei would secretly observe how the other children participated in the activities. It didn’t take long for him to integrate into the class, becoming active and enthusiastic in handicrafts, experiential lessons, and cooking sessions.
During activities, Han Fei was always curious and eager to explore, often pleasantly surprising his teacher by volunteering to assist and handing out teaching aids to his friends near him.
At Great Love Preschool, children are taught self-care skills as part of their daily routine. Han Fei has now learned to eat independently. If he sees food accidentally dropped on the table, he takes the initiative to pick it up and eat it, minimising waste. Additionally, he willingly puts away his bowl and spoon after finishing his meal.
Han Fei’s mom happily shared that he is thriving at home as well. He eats independently, cleans up after himself, puts away his toys, and frequently helps with household chores, such as taking laundry out of the washing machine and assisting with drying clothes. She also praised Han Fei for his initiative, noting that he wakes up at 8:00 a.m. each day to change into his school uniform on his own.
Although Han Fei still occasionally cries and clings to his mom at the classroom door because he doesn’t want to go to school, he eventually cooperates with his teachers for body checks and sign-ins.
Han Fei is the only child in the family. His mom is pleased to see that when he arrives at school, he greets his friends and teachers with a smile, takes the initiative to share with his friends during games, and says goodbye and thanks to his teachers after school.
Whether it’s self-care, learning or socialising, it’s great to see how much progress little Han Fei has made in just a few months.
